How would you find a job? Most people these
days, so long as they are connected, would turn first to the internet.
This can give them access to jobs at home, abroad, across all
industry sectors, all types of work, and to permanent, contract,
temporary and part-time jobs.
There are a number of high street recruitment
agencies, but the internet offers greater speed and convenience
for jobseekers and employers alike. The number of recruitment
websites is increasing and they are popular as they allow potential
candidates to search an online database for instant results. There
appear to be a large number of jobs available, both in the UK
and abroad, and online vacancies can be searched on a regional
basis as well as by category (type of work) and sector (function
of employer). As well as via the internet it is possible to find
a job via dedicated recruitment agencies, newspaper supplements
or pull-outs and dedicated industry magazines.
To avoid and prevent discrimination in the
UK, laws have recently been tightened meaning more jobs are available
to a wider range of people. Agencies and websites also offer services
to job seekers, not only helping them to find a job, but assisting
in fulfilling career objectives, marketing themselves and gaining
access to the unadvertised job market.
